The Foundation was able to provide funding for two students in the GBCS music program to take private violin lessons with
Richard Mascall a violinist and composer with The Georgian Bay Symphony Orchestra.
Orillia, in her last year of high school will be attending The University of Guelph this fall to continue her musical education, she says “thanks to your generosity I have the solid foundation I needed to get into the school” with approximately 8-10 years of university in her future every dollar counts. Orillia goes on to say “thank you, and I hope to someday pay it forward to other kids who want to get a solid start in music.”
Meagan, a grade 11 student who plays in the senior orchestra is extremely grateful as it has been beneficial in the advancement of her musical abilities. “When I first began violin lessons I was extremely shy and lacked confidence in my abilities, I have since become much more comfortable with performing and developed confidence in my playing, this confidence has also spread into other aspects of my life such as academics and social activities” says Meagan.
